The painter,Martin Decent, was born and lives in Sheffield, on the edge of the Peak District National Park. He is an artist whose paintings reflect the landscape of Derbyshire,from the gritstone edges of Stanage and Froggart, the wild areas of Kinder Scout and Edale to the stately homes of Chatsworth and Haddon Hall.
Martin Decent's work ranges from the impressionist to contemporary and his subject matter has broadened to seascapes and abstracts.

Martin Decent is published worldwide by Solomon & Whitehead Fine Art as one of their catalogued artists and has featured in a 12 page profile within the art magazine: International Artist. Articles have also been printed in Country life, Artist & Illustrator and the Practical Painter.
In 2002 he was commissioned to write a book fully explaining gouache painting and has recently been commissioned to produce a section within “The Practical Encyclopaedia of Acrylics, Oils & Gouache” - published in 2005
